Marty is happy when Grandpa comes by,
He tells lots of stories and time just flies by.
His first name is Henry, he’s gentle and kind,
Though sometimes he’s strict, but the children don’t mind.
Henry believes that the best thing to do
On a warm sunny day is to go to the zoo.
Armed with a camera, drinks and a snack,
It might be some hours before he comes back!
Edmund and Marty enjoy going too,
With every visit, they learn something new.
So many creatures, the great and the small.
Henry makes sure they discover them all!
Before every zoo visit draws to an end
Henry must greet his most favourite friend:
A small baby otter all fluffy and grey,
It’s so entertaining just watching him play!
The family of otters like splashing about:
they dive in the water and jump right back out.
When they float on their backs they are ever so sweet:
They even hold hands with their little front feet!
Henry takes pictures each time that he goes,
How many he has, well, nobody knows!
He probably could print a very thick book
With all of the photos of otters he took!

Henry is named after:
Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), who was an American naturalist, poet and philosopher. He is one of the forefathers of modern day environmentalism. He advocated for the preservation of nature and was not only a prolific writer but also a pencil maker.
Favourite quote:
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
